The world's fastest internet broadband connection

The world's fastest internet connection will let users download Encyclopaedia Britannica in less than seven seconds.

Most broadband connections operate at a speed of 2Mb/s, but the Shoreditch project (the world's fastest internet) work at a speed of up to 2Gb/s.

The ultra-fast internet trial which will make it possible to download full-length movies in an instant comes as BT announces plans to upgrade its exchanges so as to roll out line rates of up to 8 Mbps.
