Microsoft Origami MiniTablet fails to meet hype

Origami Tablet doesn't match the 1-pound tablet prototype with all-day battery life and a cost of $800.

Initially, only Mr Scoble was disappointed because Microsoft didn't tell him enough about Origami.

But now, when more Origami details have trickled out, the entire blogosphere look disappointed with the over-hyped Gizmo.

The Samsung Q1 Origami Ultra Mobile PC unveiled at Cebit is basically a handheld computer with a 7-inch display that falls somewhere between a tablet PC and a PDA and runs a special edition of Windows XP.

Some say that Origami is too big to replace a PDA, but likely not powerful enough to replace a notebook.

Origami devices are expected to do most of the tasks that a low-end PC is capable of--things like playing music and movies, editing documents, viewing e-mail and surfing the Internet.

Most Origami models are expected to include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless capabilities, though some may also have pricier add-ons, such as GPS navigation tools or cellular modems.
